While Sony was showing off its new Alpha DSLRs all the way back at PMA in March (where we snapped up plenty of pics of 'em), it looks like the company is just now starting to let loose some official shots to flaunt the cameras in their best possible light. Unfortunately, they aren't yet providing any specs to go along with the pics, although we do know that the cameras will boast the same BIONZ image processor and image stabilization of Sony's A100, which these cams are set to succeed. From the looks of it, Sony will have more to say about 'em at the Seoul International Photo & Imaging Industry Show that's just getting underway. Until then, you can check out a couple more pics of the various models after the break.

If you're one of the few who wanted an Xbox 360 Elite more for the color than for the HDMI or the 120GB hard drive, then you're in luck. For around $99, you can get your own black (or blue or green or red or orange or whatever color you want) Xbox 360 that, in our opinion, looks even better than Microsoft's matte paint job.
As you can see from the gallery, not only can you have Colorware color your console, but they'll even paint the controllers as well. You have to ship them your console for the process—unless of course you buy an entirely new one—but it's sure to come back looking better than ever. Then, if you really want a 120GB hard drive, you can go ahead and install your own hard drive and save $100. As for HDMI, there's supposedly a faux HDMI cable due out for non-Elite Xbox 360s soon. No 1080p, but you do get to use HDMI.
Check out the gallery to see all the gorgeous details. – Jason Chen

While Gigabyte officially launched its first UMPC, the curiously-familiar U60, back at CeBit, the company unfortunately left out a few key details at the time -- namely, pricing and availability. That seems to have finally been sorted out, however, and DigiTimes is now reporting that the device will be released in Taiwan on May 22nd for NT$26,900, or just over $800 (it'll apparently hit the "global market" in the second half of the year). Gigabyte isn't exactly going all out with them though, with the initial run pegged at just 500 units. In case you missed it, the device itself runs on a VIA C7-M processor, boasts a 6.5-inch 800 x 600 display, a 20GB or 30GB hard drive, and (something we didn't know before) built-in 3G/3.5G support. According to DigiTimes, Gigabyte is also planning to release a second UMPC before too long, with it reportedly set to make its debut sometime in the second half of this year.

It reveals nothing of interest (unless you consider documents that read like high school physics lab reports to be "of interest"), but sure enough, Apple's iPhone has completed that rite of passage that all handsets must traverse on their way to adulthood: FCC approval. As expected, the iPhone filing reveals just about as little as it possibly (legally) can, offering up a rendering of the ID label location -- the best visual in the whole filing, by the way -- and an endless array of RF plots for GSM / EDGE on the 850 and 1900MHz bands, Bluetooth, and WiFi radiation. No incriminating photographs of a well-abused iPhone lying helpless on a test workbench in some cavernous lab, no user's manual. Soon, friends!

So it looks like those endless rumors of a newly-spec'ed PlayStation Portable are finally about to come true, with an analyst from Lazard Capital Markets reporting that Sony has in fact copped to just such a device (most definitively NOT pictured above) at its Gamer's Day gathering in San Diego. According to Lazard's Colin Sebastian in a briefing prepared for NPD, "the company also indicated that [in addition to new software titles best left to another fine publication], a video download service and [PSP] hardware refresh are expected later this year." While both tidbits sound like potentially big news, Sony was reluctant to give up any more info on either of these asides -- meaning that you can still let your imagination run wild with magical features before the inevitable letdown. Still, if you've got your credit card in hand and sonystyle.com open in another tab as we speak, it might pay to hold off for a bit and see how this plays out.

Further expanding its Dynabook Satellite line of laptops, Toshiba's now added the T30 model to the mix, with a pair of different versions available to give you a bit of variety. The more capable of the two packs a 1.66GHz Core 2 Duo T5500 processor, Intel's 945GM Express chipset, 512MB of RAM standard (max 4GB), and an 80GB hard drive. Taking things down a notch will get you a system based on Intel's lower-end 943GML Express chipset, with a 1.60GHz Celeron M 520 processor, the same 80GB hard drive, and 512MB of RAM (upgradeable to 2GB). Both laptops are otherwise identical, with a 15.4-inch WXGA display, a DVD/CD-RW drive, and a PC Card slot (no ExpressCard here), among other standard fare. Each can also be configured with your choice of Windows XP Professional or Windows Vista Business. Look for these to hit Japan in late-June, where they'll set you back between ¥171,150 and ¥197,400 (about $1,410 to $1,630), which doesn't exactly seem like muc...

We haven't seen a whole lot of news come out of the annual RoboBusiness conference as of late, but it doesn't look like it's lacking for grand ambition, with a number of companies taking the opportunity to talk up various facets of the coming robot uprising. One such optimist is iRobis co-founder Peter Nordin, who claims to be well on his way to developing a "complete cognitive software system" for robots. What's more, he says that the first version of the software, dubbed "Brainstorm," will be available to researchers and developers later this year. Apparently, the software will give robots a "previously unseen level of autonomy in decision making and operation," using reasoning and problem solving to learn increasingly complex tasks. According to Nordin, the software has already seen a fair bit of success, with robots in his laboratory starting out moving like babies and eventually learning to walk, climb stairs, and manipulate objects. Not surprisingly the mi...

Hey, we're tired of waiting for wireless charging solutions to actually hit the market just as much as the next guy (or gal), but one inventive soul took that frustration out on a swank DIY project that elicits energy from simply breathing. We've seen the use of hot air in powering gadgets before, but this homegrown USB charger was assembled by simply using "parts scavenged from an old CD-ROM drive, a basic electronic circuit, and a few rubber bands." The chest-worn device was intended to output around one-watt for charging a cellphone, which could purportedly juice it up in just under three hours, but unfortunately for us all, this seemingly brilliant device only mustered about 50mW of energy. Of course, that's still getting somewhere, but we're not exactly keen on wearing this thing around for an entire day in order to add a few battery bars to our mobile. Nevertheless, the creator doesn't look to be giving up on it so soon, and hopefully v2 will ...

We're not going to pretend to know the first thing about cockpit communications. Still, given our experiences with janky Bluetooth gear, we're feeling a bit uneasy about the new CLEARBLUE bluetooth headset for pilots. Developed by LoPresti, the device is said to automatically prioritize communications between four simultaneously connected devices: 1) ATC/Radios (highest priority), 2) Intercom, 3) Cellphone (is that even legal?), and 4) the iPod. Apparently, the system will be ready later this year and is designed to work with LoPresti's Fury aircraft which uses the iPod as both an in-flight entertainment system and -- get this -- the flight data recorder. We know what you're thinking, "surely they can't be serious." They are, now quit calling us Shirley.
