Philips hopes to put an end to the chaos of having a different charger for every device you own, but unfortunately the "solution" includes eight different confusing product options to get that juice to your gadgets. The new Power2Charge line consists of five different chargers, two for plugging into you car, and three plugging into the wall. The Power2Charge line flagship is the SCM7880, which includes the universal USB charging kit of its buddies, six connector tips, and fifteen extra hours of battery for up to 5V of power. If a portable battery is more your style, Philips' Power2Go line, headed by the pictured SCE7640, includes power packs across the board, all the way up to 21V and 60 hours. Both the Power2Charge and Power2Go lines include some snazzy looks and LED charge indicator lights, but it remains to be seen if these things can indeed rescue us from charger hell.

Philips sure seems to be confident in the new line of LCD monitors it's introduced at IFA, with the company boasting that they deliver the "sharpest-ever images." Apparently helping the monitors meet that dubious claim are their PerfecTune and SmartImage features, the former of which supposedly ensures that each monitor boasts "laboratory-quality display performance," while the latter apparently analyzes the content on the screen and "dynamically enhances the contrast, color saturation and sharpness of images or video" to meet a selected scenario. What's more, Philips is also claiming that the monitors boast the lowest power consumption in the industry, using "up to 30 percent less power" that their competitors. Each model also comes equipped with Philip's SmartAcessory feature, which'll let you use multifunction clips to keep webcams and other gear off your desk. While complete specs are still a bit light, you'll get your choice of 17 or 19-inch stan...

Piddly and pathetic compared to the mammoth 32GB found in Toshiba's forthcoming SDHC cards, but we still wouldn't kick Panny's new 16GB class 6 (20MBps) media out of bed. It's out in November, and it'll run you $320.

Garmin has unloaded some big GPS guns in your direction -- taking the form of the nüvi 750, 760, and 770 -- and life as we know it will never be the same. According to those "in the know," the new units feature settings which allow you to store up to ten commonly (or uncommonly) used routes, plus the little 4.3-inch-widescreen-havin' guys will also sort routes for multiple destinations -- a feature which has been lacking in past models. The 700-series also gets upgraded here-and-there by way of added information like speed limits for highways and interstates, and a unique feature which helps you find your car in mall parking lots by marking the spot in which the nüvi was removed from the car. All three of the new units provide an FM transmitter for broadcasting voices and music to your stereo, and the 760 and 770 models include Bluetooth support, so you can rock extra-safe, hands-free driving when you're making your next big excursion. The nü...

A completely unsubstantiated rumor floating among day traders has RIM stock up a pretty penny today, suggesting that Microsoft may be looking to acquire Waterloo's finest in response to Google's meddling in the mobile space. At this point, pundits seem to be merely saying that it "makes sense," not that they've actually caught wind of anything substantial -- but we're kinda hoping Microsoft doesn't get any ideas here. We're not seeing Microsoft pushing a non-Windows Mobile based platform onto licensees any time soon -- particularly one that relies as heavily on Java as the BlackBerry OS does -- and a BlackBerry-branded device running Windows Mobile makes about as much sense as a Mac running Wind... oh, wait.

Apparently looking to show off the dexterity of its "Airic's_arm," automation firm Festo recently put together a slick promotional video that appears to show the robot arm writing "HELLO" on a touchscreen monitor. It seems that the arm may have had ideas of its own, however, as the writing appears to spell out "HELP" as much as it does "HELLO." Exactly what sort of distress the arm had to endure to cause it to issue this potentially non-existent plea, we're not sure. but we'd recommend that the folks at Festo not turn their back on the thing unless they want some robot arms of their own. Hit up the read link below for the complete video.

Straight from IFA 2007 in Berlin comes Daewoo's surprise entry into the Blu-ray camp with the company's first player, the DBP-1000. Interestingly, even though Daewoo is probably more well-known for their Trutech ODM devices -- or even their autos -- this player supposedly supports the full 2.0 Profile for Blu-ray Disc, including BD Live internet functionality, picture-in-picture, and local storage. Pricing and availability are nowhere to be found, but it won't be soon enough for Blu-ray fans to see players with that interactive functionality built-in like competing HD DVD players have. Another picture after the jump.Continue reading Daewoo shows off Blu-ray Profile 2 player at IFA

High-tech foreign criminals may have hacked into retail security systems in order to remotely monitor customers and employees in the course of at least 12 bold robberies in as many states during the past week, officials say. FBI agents are seeking an individual or group of conspirators who have been calling stores and banks from Texas to Kansas to Rhode Island on pre-paid, overseas cellphones and informing whomever picks up that a bomb will be detonated at the location if funds are not wired to a specific offshore account. What's more, the caller claims to have visual surveillance of the premises and proceeds to give certain accurate details about the environment -- in one case attempting to get a hostage to cut off another's fingers, and in another forcing everyone in the store to strip naked. CNN is reporting that at least $13,000 has been extorted so far -- though the total is likely much higher -- and that investigators are now p...

It looks like Apple's facing a lawsuit of a different sort than the ones it's used to, with two California women now suing the company over alleged violations of accessibility laws at its flagship retail store in San Francisco. According to AppleInsider, the pair say the store poses a whole range of difficulties for people in wheelchairs, with products out of reach and the Genius Bar in particular all but inaccessible. They also say the store's presentation theater has no wheelchair accessible seating areas or passageways, making it impossible for them to attend instructional workshops. While the two women are seeking a jury trial and compensation for "emotional and physical losses," they apparently aren't giving up on the store entirely, saying they "intend to return and patronize this Store, once legally required access has been provided."
